Dan studied piano with Mrs Kirk at the Chingford School of Music from age 5 to 12. After that his parents stopped paying out for lessons because he didn't practise. Despite this setback Dan still managed to study music at University College Cardiff. For 20 years he was a singer and actor in the theatre, where the highs and lows were playing Tony in West Side Story, Anthony in Sweeney Todd, and a Fairy in Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. He came to composing through choral conducting and owes a great debt to the Charing Cross Hospital Choir, The Chelsea Arts Club Choir and The Penshurst Choral Society for putting up with countless arrangements and first performances. He has written a wide range of choral, orchestral and chamber music for the concert platform, as well as jazz and cabaret songs. He has a cult following due to his scientific short operas - The Homosexual Necrophiliac Duck Opera and It's not what he says, it's how deep it goes. His most recent opera She said the 'F' Word premiered at the 2018 Tete a Tete Opera Festival. '...an off the wall joy.' wrote Michael White in Classical Music Magazine.
